Who are the children?

  • Children available for adoption from Ukraine are generally between the ages of 14 and 36 months.
  • They are usually healthy and reside in clean, well staffed orphanages prior to placement.
  • Their families have placed them for adoption because of extensive poverty in the country.
  • Childless couples cannot request gender, but families with one or more child can request either a boy or a girl.
Who can adopt?

  • Married couples may adopt from Ukraine.
  • Ukraine is also very flexible regarding parents' ages, health and length of marriage.
  • Children in the home are acceptable.

The Adoption Process:

  • Lifelink will conduct a home study of applicants and assist parents in completing and submitting the necessary dossier documents that are required.
  • During the waiting period, Lifelink will provide parents training on adoption issues and cultural information as we believe understanding these issues is an important facet of the adoption experience.
  • Licensure by the State is not necessary as the adoption is finalized while parents are in Ukraine.
