HAITI
Who are the children?

  • 6 months to 10 years of age at the time of referral - age requests are honored.
  • Both males and females are available - gender selection is permitted.
  • Sibling groups are available.
  • Children are in known, normal health.
  • Children with medical concerns are also in need.
Who can adopt?

  • Couples age 30 and up may adopt.
  • Married for at least 10 years.
  • Fewer than four children in the current family.
  • Flexibility exists with age, marriage length and family size.
Time:

  • It is estimated to take about 12 months from the time a child is identified to the time of arrival in the US – each case is unique and will follow a unique timeline. It is possible to visit your child in Haiti during the waiting period.
The Adoption Process:

  • Lifelink will conduct a home study of applicants and assist parents in completing and submitting the necessary dossier documents that are required.
  • Licensure by the family's state may be required.
  • During the waiting period, we will provide you with adoption training and information on the Haitian culture & travel, as we believe the understanding of these issues is an important facet of the adoption experience.
  • Adoption is finalized in Haiti prior to families traveling to escort child home. In order to receive benefits of the automatic citizenship upon arrival in the U.S. both parents must have traveled to Haiti and visited with the child prior to the Haitian finalization.
